Kamichu!

Episodes:  16

How:  Netflix Rental

Grade:  D

Summary: {From MAL} Yurie Hitotsubashi was just an average middle school student living in the city of Onomichi on Japan's inland sea in the easygoing times of the 1980s. She spent her days worrying about exams and trying to get Kenji, the clueless boy she likes, to notice her. Then during lunch one day she suddenly announces to her friend Mitsue that the night before she had become a goddess. Their classmate Matsuri quickly latches on to Yurie's newfound divinity as a way to promote her family's bankrupt Shinto shrine. She hopes that replacing their hapless local god, Yashima-sama, with Yurie will make the shrine more popular (and profitable). Now, with Matsuri as her manager, Yurie has to grant wishes, cure curses, meet aliens, and attend god conventions. All the while attending school and working-up the courage to confess to Kenji.

Thoughts:  This was pretty rough to continue with, I'm not exactly sure why other then the fact it was a little on the boring side. Maybe it was because I was watching Strawberry Marshmallow at the same time and really.... compared to that it was just terrible.
The show is a slice of life, I keep getting bombarded by these shows lately and really.... some just suck. I won't say this one sucks but it really doesn't have a huge Yey!! Factor for me.  The best thing about the show are the little creatures that Yurie can see...

Who we have...

Yurie Hitotsubashi -  She's the girl who became a god....somehow.  It's never explained just how she became one but, She's a god!  Through the series she talks to aliens, ships and all sort of other creatures, She's not entirely sure what she is the god of ... maybe it's naivety?

Matsuri Saegusa - She runs a Shrine and she use to be able to see spirits and such but, She apparently grew out of it or something.   She's a really irritating character who likes to use Yurie... even though somewhere deep down she does care about the Girl God.

Mitsue Shijo -  Yurie's best friend even before she became a "God", She's down to earth and seems to have what's best for Yurie in mind more so then Matsuri.   The God Yashima likes to possess her body so that he may communicate with others or so he can play music.

Yashima -  He's the God at the Raifuku Shrine that Matsuri's family runs, He was a real let down to me... I thought he was going to be a cool god by the way he looks but he's kind of a.... dork?  I don't know what to call it but.. Nope, Don't like him.
He does give Yurie advice from time to time.

Tama Hitotsubashi -  Yurie's cat, Currently home to the Poverty God.  Tama ran away in one episode and was in the process of killing herself when the Poverty God "saved" her.   Yurie drove her cat to suicide..
Anyways, With the Poverty God in her she acts a lot like a human... walking on two feet and such.  She really freaks out Yurie's brother when she's not careful to act like a normal cat.

Shoukichi  Hitotsubashi -  Yurie's little brother, He's more mature then his older sister and has a massive crush on Matsuri's younger sister Miko.  The two of them even run away together in one episode...

Miko Saegusa - Matsuri's sister, She can still see Yashima and seems to have a crush on the God.  She gets jealous and runs away from home {with Shoukichi} when she finds out that Yashima may have a bit of a crush on her sister {who can't see him anymore}.

Favorite Character{s}-  Shoukichi and Miko,  They weren't even main characters but I just found them both far more likable then the others.  This doesn't happen often...

Least Favorite Character{s}-  Pretty much everyone else.

Tidbit;   Apparently, The Show was just 12 Episodes during it's Airtime, The other 4 Episodes were on the DVDs.  When it was released in the US it was just all 16 Episodes with no word of some of them being "Specials".

I really did half ass this write up.  Why?  Because I really did not like the show I just trudged my way through it for the hell of it.  I did get through it though!
