My Late Birthday.

         My birthday is kind of strange, I tend to just get stuff for myself during the month of July and call it a day.  My dad doesn't know much about Anime, Manga or Games so, it's either that or give him a list that sometimes confuses the hell out of him.


     

     It started in early July this year,  The Guided Fate Paradox was down to a reasonable price new at Gamestop so I snatched it up.  Bam!   Video game!   It game with a CD so, I was quite the happy gamer since that was the main reason I was getting the game to begin with, The Music.
      I knew next to nothing about this game and after putting it in the playstation, I was a little confused. More of that on my review of the game, whenever I am reasonably finished with it...

   








       The end of July,  Half Priced Books sends out these 50% off coupons around the final weeks of July. They have for a couple years now and this year did not disappoint. I tend to get there near the end of the day and it's questionable if I will find anything or not...  Last year was the Assassin's Creeds games... this year?  
       Magic Knight Rayearth Season 2.   Yey!   Of course I didn't have Season 1 yet.  :(



   
 







           Birthday.  Like I said, I am confusing to buy for, but somehow the dad found and bought Magic Knight Rayearth Season 1 for me.  That solved the whole only having Season 2 thing, now I just have to decide if I want to hunt down the OVAs.
     Another item on the Birthday was, a new Digital Camera... The old one broke at the Louisville Zoo about a month and a half earlier, which really sucked. This new Camera was broken out of the box, which also sucked..   We returned it to Walmart and then I decided to give the same camera a second try and ordered a new one of the same type from their website...
      A couple weeks later, a new working camera.  Yey!

   

        In September, yes... September.   We of course went to the Cincinatti Zoo because.. well.. I'm extremely immature and just want to go see animals as a birthday thing.  No bars, no partying, just me and the Zoo.
     Last year we went in October, that was just a terrible, terrible mistake. The Halloween party at the Zoo made for an awful time of dodging tiny people dressed up as strange creatures. We also went on a Saturday instead of a Sunday, didn't have to battle the Bengals crowd going to the football games.
 

 

      All in all it was a pretty nice birthday, nothing amazing but, then... I'm sort of boring and easy to please.  Give me a chocolate cake and really, I don't need much else. haha   Oh my... How did I forget.. There's also this guy!   My new husband, the only man I will ever need...

Three Months of Spending.... or Not.

       
 Well.... Yea, I completely didn't update this thing for three months.  I didn't die or anything, just... Summer is well... Summer.  Plants to take care of and random stuff to do, I'm also a {major} bit of a procrastinator.

         Sadly, I did nothing productive all Summer.  I suck.   Granted, the car kept breaking so learning to drive with a broken care doesn't really work. Just over a thousand dollars in repairs to my little blueberry and I just hope it can hold out till I do get around to learning to drive it.  Trying to drive a newer car would be far too nerve wrecking.

       At the end of July, one of my Aunts died.... not that close to the family in general, but it still sucks. My birthday was in August, I'm a year older...meh.  So, Boring Summer much.  Guess it's better then an active bad Summer,  next Summer I should actually do something... like go to an Anime Convention or... I dunno.


       Anyways, I still kept up with what I bought... not that it was much. I'll put my "birthday haul" in another post, that way I can get another post..

Bride of the Water God 15 -  I really need to read this series, haven't actually read anymore after book five or so because I wanted to get a decent amount of books to read at once. Now, I certainly have a decent amount of books.. haha.
        This is the only physical item I "bought" that wasn't considered part of my birthday haul. What made it not part of it? I ordered it in June.








Network Purchases;  Bought three games, all on a single sale and all PSX games..  Wild Arms, Legend of Dragoon and Harvest Moon.  There grows my backlog of games..

Free Games...

Encompassing three months you'd think there would be a ton of them, but not really.....  July, August and September were all sort of  "Meh" on the game front...


DokiDoki Universe:  A July free game, I downloaded this as soon as I possibly could.. it looked fun and it turned out to be... amusing yet repetitive. I'll be writing up something on it soon,  I hope.

Dragons Crown:  An August game, THE August game. I've been wanting to try this out since it's release and just didn't want to pay for it. Glad I didn't buy it, it's okay... haven't actually beat it yet but yea.. It's okay.

FEZ:   Another August game that I downloaded near the end of the month, just before the September switch. It's..... different... maybe a little aggravating.  I'm really not sure how far I'll be getting into it.


HOARD:  The most addictive game known to mankind!  Well, maybe not.. but, I never thought flying around as a lil dragon and destroying stuff would be so satisfying. It could almost be stress relief...

June - Better than last year.

This month went by way too fast.....


The weather was nice.....  Things were a little boring.  Plants are doing fine...for the most part. Just... boring I guess.  That's okay, compared to last June. Anyways, did go to the Greek Festival downtown to get my favorite.. Spinach Pies!

Natsume Book of Friends 15 -  I'm all caught up! Finally!  This one has taken a while to catch up on seeing I started so far into it's release and they don't sell it in the stores around here. Kind of makes me miss Borders, they always stocked this series but that was before I started buying it...

Natsume Book of Friends 16 -  It was actually bought a couple months ago, I just forgot I bought it and failed to mention it in any previous posts. So yea, all caught up with Natsume.













Network Purchases ;   Kingdoms of Amalur:  Reckoning DLCs.  Both of them, they were on sale... I'd say finally, but apparently I missed them the first time they were on sale. Of course now that it's been around 2 years since I played it, I had to restart it to get into the grove of things... heh.

May ~ This is a little late.

May's always a little rough.

Mothers Day is in May, I don't really deal with it very well and tend to just want to hide somewhere away from all the happy people and their mothers. Oh well....

On to what this post is for.... What did I buy!






Black Bird Volume 18 -  It's the last Volume!!  OMG!   18, 18, Another to put on the complete shelf. A few others will be joining it there soon.  Now I just need to read them all in a row...










Shiki SAVE Edition - I've been waiting a few years for this show to become available at a reasonable price and for once, waiting paid off.  Not only was the SAVE Edition a good price, it was also the exact same release s the Limited Edition without the second volumes slip cover.
         Funimation had said it'd been pushed back to June, but somehow RightStuf shipped it out the last week in May and I got it on the 30th.  Yey!!

Network Purchases;  I bought something, shame on me. Can't actually remember if I bought this in April or May, haha.   Normally don't buy big games digitally, but it was 10$s.....  Tales of Symphonia Chronicles.  I've played a little of it and it looks like it should be pretty nice, yet the story may be a bit predictable.







Free Games...

May was a dead month, I'm still not sure if I will be downloading Skullgirls Encore, but I all ready own Puppeteer.  Meh. I really thought back during the sale it'd be more likely that Rain would be a free game and not Puppeteer, guess I was wrong.

Oh well.


Skullgirls Encore -  It's a fighting game of some sort, really don't know much about it.  May download it eventually....


I forgot to download Batman before it left the free list, it's not that big of a loss of course since..well.. it's Batman.  Oh well, I'll have to be more careful from now on.

April ~ Finally.

I sit here and type this after my first battle with the sewer monsters, it was probably the least stressful battle that I've had so far.  Amazingly I didn't freak out when I woke up and heard the glubbing coming from the bathtub... then saw the water.
      Was happy and surprised that the Apartment people actually decided to call the plumbers right off... guess they finally figured out that they don't have a snake big enough to conquer this sewer loving tree. Starting to think there may be two trees cramping into my line... Oh well.
      About 2 Hours to get here, then he took about 30 Minutes to fix it with just some minor yuck issue in the bathroom.  Of course, this all happened the day after I did a major cleaning of the bathroom... *sigh*  Now I wait for the carpet cleaners again and then hope the next root episode is more than a month away.
         Moving On.

Haven't really been keeping stuff up to date here, not that I've been watching a lot of Anime lately.. Final Fantasy X has been sucking up what free time I have between outside work and the normal goings on. This month has warmed up, thankfully... it's Spring and it's been... Spring like.  A little nippy here and there, but no ice storms!

Health Food!

        We actually do stuff when it starts to get warmer out, Thunder Over Louisville was on the 12th of the month and the two of us went.  Then there's the Chow Wagons.... other stuff... I like the word stuff. Stuff. Stuff. Stuff.
















Anyways, started on the makeshift apartment garden.. Eggplants are sprouting and waiting to be put into bigger pots to go outside when the weather gets a little more stable. The apartments garden crew took off the top of my Hyacinths this year and I almost cried, they lopped off part of the newly sprouting lilies too but... they survived.  The Hazards of Bulb Planting while living in an apartment.

My one and only physical buy this month...

Crimson Spell Volume 3 -  Finally, it's not being released by Kitty anymore.. switched hands over to Sublime.  They've been releasing them at a fairly steady click, I was just lucky that they are releasing them physically since Sublime is more of a digital Manga entity.
       I did not double dip on the first two volumes, this may change however since this book is of fairly high quality.  It's also bigger then the two Kitty books... which I am not sure if I like or not.  Time will tell.










Network Purchases;  I did well this month in the terms of games, I only bought one... heh.  Wasn't going to buy any, but... this barely counts as one..  Plants Vs. Zombies!.   I love this game, have it for free on the computer and always wanted it on the Playstation.  With a 99 cent price tag and 2 Dollars left over in my "Wallet".... Just couldn't pass it by.
           It's a nice get away from Final Fantasy.

Free Games!

Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse- This is a remake or something of an old Sega game, you get that too when you download the free game and I just haven't looked at it.  It's.... different.  I've always found Mickey and all his buds to be a bit on the creepy side, that's why I never really enjoyed Kingdom Hearts like others do.
        I'd have never bought it, but it's nice to have for free.


Batman: Arkham City -  It's free, haven't downloaded it yet.. will eventually.  It's Batman, it can't be THAT bad.. Hey, people were excited about it for some reason. Will find out someday.

Easter!!

March ~ Ice Storms and Video Games.

This is the month I was waiting for.

The month my games were coming in.

Of course there was also the dad's birthday in the start of the month, that turned out a little less than spectacular. Glad I was born in the Summer, no cold weather and really.... in August there's not a lot of weather that can be had here.  Other than Hot.

Anyways, We had a doozy of an ice storm on March 2nd... which also happened to be the day of the dad's birth. A couple years back there was a huge tornado outbreak on the same date...  I guess I can't say it was THAT bad. It actually turned out a lot milder than what the weatherman fore casted....  The temperatures for most of the month still sucked...

Done with that, eventually we got to go out and celebrate his Birthday.


Games, My Games!   I rarely pre-order a game, I tend to wait for them to come out and wait a little longer for their prices to drop but.... I pre-ordered two games last year, not actually knowing their release dates at the time...

Waited.

Oh my, they were to be released about a week apart. A week.  Derp.  Oh well.


Final Fantasy X & X-2 HD -   Got it from Amazon, I really liked the first game on the PS2 and actually never finished the second one...The trophies will actually give me more of a reason to beat the second one. It's the "Limited Edition" that all the pre-orders were turned into at one point in time...
     Amazon was saying there was some sort of delay in my shipment, that I wouldn't get it till around April 1st... but that was a lie. It shipped from a warehouse pretty near by and got here the Thursday after release. Yey!
       The release is really pretty.... Only downside is that I wish it had a game box.  The disc is nestled into the art book which is in a slip cover type box.  I'll have to make myself a case for the game so that it's actual case won't get damaged from use.







The Witch and the Hundred Knight-  Ordered from Target, during a sale or possibly a price glitch. This
was the first time I ever used Targets website for anything and really... the way they handle their pre-orders is a pain.   The pre-order was in the beginning of November, they must have pinged my account twice a week every week after the pre-order...
    Twice, is that really necessary?  This of course had me thinking it was a price error and they were finding a way to back out of the deal.  Lots of peoples got canceled, somehow mine never did. Which is nice...
     Part of me wanted to cancel and buy the Collectors Edition straight from NISA for the cute little Metallica Nendoroid, but...the price.... Yea.... I'm cheap.  Oh well.
      I'd been waiting for a couple years for this game anyways and oddly, I never knew a thing about it...  Even getting it's name wrong quite often. "Hundred Knight" not "Hundred Knights".   Whoops.
    Got the game the Thursday after release, It has a reversible cover which I feel all games and DVD types should have... It also came with a CD which I wasn't really aware of.  <3  Gotta Love NISA.
     Overall, the experience with Target online was okay.... I never got a shipping Email though. Derp.  Then, I never received an order confirmation either.  Meh.







Network Purchases;  Nothing!  Was playing Saints Row 4 most the month, Until FFX got here at least. I didn't even look at the sales for the month.  The free games this month were pretty good though...


Tomb Raider -  The PS3 Version, only got to play a little of it before I switched back over to SR. I need to get back to it eventually, it was okay.... at least the 30 minutes of it that I played was.

Lone Survivor-  This game is going to drive me insane, I kind of suck at it. Everything is "missable" and you have to play through it a few times...

Thomas Was Alone-  Haven't downloaded it yet, but I will......

February - Glad You're Gone.

           This picture sums up the entire month, it wasn't any better then January. Come to think of it, it was probably worse than Jan. since we had a minor freezing rain event.  This weather is just not good...  I'm going to Australia next Dec. to Mid-March.
          The odd bright side of this crappy weather?  I haven't gained my 10 pounds of winter weight this year. Gain anywhere from 5 to 10 pounds over the winter due to crap weather, but this year?  Nope.  Though strangely, I have been getting to the gym even in the sub freezing weather more then I did last year at least.. Oh well... Maybe it's a good thing that it got cold and stayed cold.  Body got use to it....
         Nose hasn't got use to it though, this dry weather is terrible.

      V-Day was okay.  Not that I have a Valentines or anything, but the dad bought me a bag of Hershey Kisses. Love the Hershey kisses.


Onto what I am here for....



Saints Row 4 -  Yea!!  There were many choices at Half Price Books, but...Yes... I got this lovely depraved game using the VDay Coupon they sent.  Other options were a Witch Hunter Robin or Atelier Iris 2, Guess I know where my loyalties lie now.
       It was a very good choice, it's been a great way to pass the cold nights by...












Gasaraki Vols. 1 thru 8 -   This is one of those Anime that I can't quite remember if I even watched the entire thing, I remember watching at least one episode of it, but after that it's like... Nope.   Anyways, there I was in HPBs and I saw Volume 4 on the 1 Dollar Cart, poking around the cart I found three more and was a bit disappointed that the other 4 were not there.

         Elsewhere in the store,  saw another volume... and another... after a little searching all 8 came home with me.  A little "meh" about not being able to get the box with them, but I will get over it.





Arisa 12 -  Final Volume!!  This is a love/hate moment, love when a series ends but hate it too.  With so
many unfinished series due to license drops it's great when a Manga gets an entire run, but then it's sad because it's the end...and really.. I haven't started a new series in probably over 2 years.












Network Purchases; Nothing.  Nope, I don't even remember them having any good sales. After last months wonderful free games though, it's good that they didn't have anything I wanted to buy.  Of course that and the fact I bought Saints Row 4.
      This months free games were a bit "meh" though...  I may not even bother with two of the three PS3 games.

Remember Me- A definite download, not that I know much about it....  Haven't actually downloaded it yet due to SR and the free games from Jan.  Oh well, I will before it goes away.

Payday 2 -  This is a big maybe, I may just let it sit in download limbo or something.. just in case I want it to litter my trophy list. It doesn't look good at all on youtube.... Uguu.

January ~ It's Winter.

Let me start out by saying... It's fucking cold.  It shouldn't be this cold, I know it's winter and all, but come on....  This is Kentucky not Maine.  Temps not going above 20 during the day is something that just should not happen in Kentucky, ever...
       January Sucks, Winter Sucks.  Hope the bugs die at least...


Now on the spending side of things, I didn't do that bad this month... Only two things.

Finding Nemo DVD/BluRay Combo Pack- I've had this movie on my DVR for ages now, have watched it multiple times and finally caved in and bought it.

Ruin Explorers-  Found it used at Half Priced Books, it's a fun little show that I had watched a long time ago on VHS.  Maiden Japan has recently re-released it, but this is the ADV release.













Network Purchases;   There went that free five dollars from last month, they had a pretty nice sale and I grabbed Puppeteer. I was going to go for Rain, but I figured that may actually come free eventually... of course with my luck it will be Puppeteer that comes free.  Oh well.

It was a pretty good month in the free game world...


DMC: Devil May Cry;  Have never played the original DMC games, but I was always curious about this one. People say it's really bad....Eh.  Free is a perfect way to try it!

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons;  Had been thinking about buying this game back when it was first released, now I'm glad I waited.  From what I've seen in the reviews it should be really good....

BioShock Infinite; I do not have much hope for this game, but it's in my download list.  Will try it.... someday.

December ~ It Was a Long Month.

Ever year December is pretty bad.  Not only do I buy stuff for people, but there are sales on Anime and Games that are difficult not to take advantage of...

Mushishi The Complete Series S.A.V.E Edition:  This was streaming on Netflix for ages, but I never really watched much of it..a couple episodes. I liked it, it's the type of show I tend to watch and all so I finally decided to just buy it.
      This also marked my first S.A.V.E. Edition of an Anime, I was really surprised when I received it. The case it comes in is really nice as far as what Anime companies have been using recently. Looks like all the normal Mushishi DVDs in one case.  The green bar on the side is of course, Ugly.  That can be changed just by taking the cover off and flipping it over.
    Even with the green side bar, I found this release to be much more impressive then Sentai's BluRay.






Ghost Hunt S.A.V.E. Edition  & Corpse Princess S.A.V.E. Edition:  After having liked the Mushishi's S.A.V.E. release so much. I decided to order these two from the RightStuf sale, at first the order was quite a bit...larger.  Just these two were both OOS at the time so they ended up coming in a second package...  The first package has apparently been lost in the mail.  Uhg.
      Ghost Hunt, I know I love. I've watched it a few times all ready either via Netflix or Fansubs.  Corpse Princess, I've never seen before and honestly have no idea what it's about.  I guess that's my total "blind buy" for the season.

Playstation Plus 1 Year:  I ordered this from Walmart around Black Friday, I needed it anyway and I knew it wouldn't get any cheaper.  Walmart is an odd duck though, they sell the cards online.. one would think they'd just EMail you the code.
     Nope, it came in a bubble mailer.

 
 Banana Ninja Minion:  Okay, this was really just a random buy....I saw it at Walmart, just sitting there all cute and stuff.  Decided to give him a good home, before they were all sold out.
     Good thing I did at the time too, went back a couple days later and all the Minions were gone!

Network Purchases; Nothing really, I did a free month of Music Unlimited to get 5 Dollars for my virtual wallet.  Other then that, there was no real activity on the Network side of things.


Borderlands 2:  The only "free" game this month worth the trouble, maybe.  With the PS4 being released it made it a bit of a dead month for anything PS3.  Anyways, I haven't downloaded it yet but... I'm sure I will get around to it.

Christmas and Other Stuff.

Hmm, Wow.   It's the end of the year.

2013 wasn't all that great, not just for me but for anyone I know it seems.  People died, People got divorced, People got hurt, People just sucked in general.

I guess the best thing that happened all year was, I finally got my ass in gear and got my GED, which I figured out I should have done a long time ago because that was some easy shit. Seriously, I could have passed that thing right out of Middle School and probably should have.  Ah well.
     Of course, even with the GED it doesn't really help me with my people issues and the bipolar but.. one obstacle down. In a way it helped my self confidence, although it really did show the power of my anxiety attacks too...

Anyways, this post is really about my Christmas Presents.  I have to admit the dad did an amazing job this year... at least to me.

Well, that's pretty much it. I got some money too and that really doesn't need to be pictured. All and all it was a pretty good Christmas.  Got to see some relatives and eat some yummy food too... yea... The End.

November ~ Damn Sales.

I won't even try to defend myself this month.

This has been a slow month, September and October went by so fast and this one was just trudging along. I really blame the weather, when it gets cold it's like snails pace.

I was supposed to go to a family reunion/party thing around mid-month, but it gets dark so early now and it was raining and just crappy outside so... couldn't get out there.  Damn Bumpkin Roads.  Oh well..

It's not that I bought a lot this month, it wasn't many things really it was just... the price of said things. Anyways, here it goes..

AKB0048 Season 1 BluRay:  My first Anime on BluRay and I have mixed emotions about it.  I know the show itself is worth owning on BluRay, it's dazzling.  The problem is the release itself is very... disappointing.
       The MSRP is 70 Dollars, easy to find around 40; It's 13 Episodes long and it's Subbed and Dubbed. The release is very bare bones though, there's the normal stuff on the discs but.. I don't know.. Something doesn't feel good about it.  I'd have oddly been a bit happier if it were a reverse cover, would have added a little extra something to it...
        I'm happy I finally got it, for a reasonable price.

Shirt Woot! T-Shirt:  This was my first time ordering from Shirt Woot! and it was a good experience, one of their shirts of the day was up and it was adorable enough to make me jump on it. Finding cute shirts for a good price isn't that easy, you'd end up paying around 20$s a shirt at the mall or specialty store.
    I'm not very good with size so, I with a little fear ordered a Medium since I was worried a Large would swim on me.  It got here fast, it's a good size, the picture on it is very vibrant in color and I hope it stays intact for a while.  Of course, I'll be hand washing the shirt to avoid shrinkage.. if I get another I may try a large so I won't have to worry about that.

Sailor Moon; Short Stories 2:  I actually pre-ordered this last month during one of B&N Manga Monday sales. It's currently on it's way from UPS and may not actually get here until December.  Hope it's better then the first book of short stories...  












Tales of Xillia Limited Edition:  So yea..... I'm not sure why I got this exactly. For some reason I just really wanted the LE instead of the Standard Edition that has been popping up everywhere. The fact it's dropping in price dramatically for Black Friday and all the LE's that are left in stores will be swept up... really did play on this decision.
     Yes, I started the game... it's not just sitting and waiting like Graces F was and technically still is.

Network Purchases:  Nothing!  There wasn't anything I wanted and after Octobers splurges this is a very good thing..


Dragons Dogma Dark Arisen;  Disliked the Demo, always wanted to try the game though. This was "the game" for me this month as the other free games were are a little "meh".  Of course it took forever to download and even longer to load for some reason, haven't had much of a chance to actually play it due to getting Xillia.
